Carnaval de Córdoba
The Carnival in Cordoba is an increasingly popular festivity. The Town Hall organizes a "comparsas" and "chirigotas" Competition (songs with funny lyrics) leaving behind the cordovan traditional "murgas" (band of street musicians) and student groups. The "comparsas" and "chirigotas" normally have an original name and its members wear costumes that are related to the name. This festivity ends on a Sunday, called "Domingo de Piñata", with a parade of carriages, "comparsas", "chirigotas" and masks, marching all round the city.
